AAP Notice Regarding “Political Ads” – Flying Journals

Resumption notice issued by the Information and Publicity Bureau.

New Delhi:

Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been notified by Delhi’s own government that it allegedly spent Rs 1,636.2 crore on political advertisements faked as government messages.

AAP must be paid within 10 days, warning notice of recall issued by the Directorate of Information and Promotion (DIP) or its office will be seized.

“One last chance is hereby given to repay Rs. 163,61,88,265/- (Rs. 1.63 crore, 6.1 lakh, 88,000, 265 crore only) by depositing the above amount in the following account details within 10 days of this notification , otherwise further necessary action will be taken on the matter in accordance with the law,” the notice read.

The amount of advertising expenditure as on March 31, 2017 was Rs 99,31,10,053 (Rs 99.31 crore) and the remaining Rs 64,3078,212 (Rs 64.31 crore) was penalty interest on this amount.

Responding to the notification, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia accused Deputy Governor VK Saxena and BJP of targeting elected ministers and ruling AAP.

Almost a month ago, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena launched action against the party led by Arvind Kejriwal, accusing the party of running political advertisements under the guise of government advertisements.

Reacting to the Deputy Governor’s Dec. 20 order to recover Rs 970 crore from the party, AAP said he had no authority to pass such orders.

The AAP’s chief spokesman, Saurabh Bhardwaj, viewed the deputy governor’s order as a “new love letter”. “BJP is upset that we have become a national party and are taking power from it in MCD. LG sahab is doing everything as directed by BJP and this is making delhi people uneasy. The more worried the people of delhi, the more The happier the BJP gets,” Mr Bhardwaj claimed.

He had said that the Governor’s order was untenable before the law.
