Brazil’s far-right former president Jair Bolsonaro was hospitalized with abdominal pains, the wife of Brazil’s far-right former president Jair Bolsonaro said on Monday, following reports he was in a Florida home a day after his supporters invaded the center of power in Brasilia. Brazil’s El Globo newspaper said Bolsonaro, 67, was taken to the AdventHealth Celebration acute care hospital outside Orlando, Florida, where the former president had visited two days before his term ended on Dec. 31.

He has been staying at the Orlando home of former Brazilian mixed martial arts champion Jose Aldo, a stone’s throw from Disneyland.
The news of his hospitalization came a day after far-right protesters invaded the Brazilian capital’s presidential palace, congress and supreme court, destroying buildings in scenes reminiscent of then-President Donald’s death on Jan. 6, 2021. The attack on the US Capitol by supporters of Trump, an ally of Bolsonaro.
Bolsonaro condemned Brasilia’s “looting” on Twitter on Sunday night, but rejected Lula’s claim that he had instigated the attack, defending the right to “peaceful protest”.
Bolsonaro suffered a series of health problems during his 2018 presidential campaign after a knife attack that nearly killed him.
He has undergone six operations since the stabbing, by an assailant who was found mentally unfit to stand trial.
