Witness Nidhi was riding in the back seat of a bike with 20-year-old Anjali Singh, who was dragged for several days by a car in the capital on New Year’s Day. Kilometers died after being hit by her car and she was arrested earlier in a drug smuggling case, Delhi Police said.
According to the FIR registered in December 2020, Nidhi was arrested in Agra under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (1985). Nidhi is currently out on bail, police sources said.
Nidhi was stopped and arrested at Agra railway station on December 6, 2020, for carrying marijuana (drug) on a train from Telangana. She was subsequently arrested. Two boys named Sameer and Ravi were also arrested along with Nidhi.
Meanwhile, in the Kanjhawala case, Delhi Police said on Friday that it had asked Nidhi to take part in the investigation and clarified that she was not arrested.
“There are media reports that Nidhi (witness) has been arrested by the police. She has been summoned by the police to take part in the investigation,” a Delhi police official said.
Nidi, who was with Anjali at the time of the incident, told media on Tuesday that the latter was drunk on the day of the incident.
“She was drunk and insisted on driving a two-wheeler. She was hit under the car and dragged away by the car. I was so scared that I ran home and didn’t tell anyone.” Anyone. It’s the girl’s fault for drunk driving. I insisted not to let her drive. I told her “I’m conscious, let me drive”. She doesn’t trust me, she trusts herself,” Nidhi claimed on Tuesday.
Anjali’s body was found on January 1 in the Kanjhawala area of the capital. She was dragged for more than 12 kilometers near Sultanpuri by a car that hit her scooter.
The seven accused in the case are now in the custody of Delhi Police.
“In the Sultanpuri case, the sixth accused, Ashutosh, has been arrested for providing false information to the police. Police Special Commissioner (Law and Order) Sagar Preet Hooda, Delhi Police, said on Friday that further investigations are ongoing.”
The other five accused in the case – Deepak Khanna, Amit Khanna, Krishan, Mitton and Manoj Mittal were arrested earlier. The five drove a car borrowed from Ashutosh.
All accused were taken to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for medical examination on Thursday night. Police said they were taken at night for safety reasons.
On Thursday, Hooda said the other two defendants were Ashutosh and Ankush Khanna. They were all friends of the five men in custody and had tried to protect the accused.
According to the special CP, the two also attempted to tamper with evidence while trying to help the accused.
A total of 18 teams of the Delhi Police are investigating the case.
During interrogation, it was discovered that the car was driven by Amit, not Deepak.
