A 20-year-old girl was killed in Delhi’s Kanjhawala incident on Sunday when her moped was allegedly hit by a car and dragged for several kilometers, a witness has recounted the horrific ordeal.
Deepak Dahiya runs a sweet shop on Kanjhawala Road in Ladpur village.
He said that the defendant had been dragging the girl’s body wrapped in the car for 18 to 20 kilometers for about an hour and a half.
“It was 3:20 in the morning…I was standing outside the store when I heard a loud noise from a vehicle 100 meters away. I thought it was a flat tire. As soon as the car moved, I saw a dead body being dragged away. I immediately The police were notified,” Dahiya told ANI.
Some time later, he said, at around 3:30 a.m., the car made a U-turn with the woman’s body still stuck under it. Dahia said the defendant made repeated U-turns on the road for about 4-5 kilometers.
“I tried to stop them many times, but they didn’t stop the vehicle. For about an hour and a half, they carried the girl’s body about 20 kilometers,” he said.
Dahia said he also followed the car on a bicycle and contacted police.
About an hour and a half later, the accused fled after the body fell from the car near Jyoti village on Kanjhawala Road, he said.
“It can’t just be an accident,” Dahia stressed.
The girl fell off the scooter and was dragged under the vehicle for a long distance at the time of the incident, said Deputy Commissioner of the Outer Delhi Police, Harendra Kumar Singh, in an interview with ANI. The police arrested the defendant based on the registered car number.
“The defendants told police the windows were closed and the music was loud so they didn’t know … when they knew, they fled the scene,” the DCP said.
On Sunday, police reported that a 20-year-old girl was dragged several kilometers along the road after being hit by a car, became entangled in the wheels and died at the scene.
The police said that the girl’s condition was very bad after the incident. She was dragged and her clothes and even her back were ripped off.

“A girl’s naked body was found in Kanjhawala, Delhi, and some boys allegedly hit her motorbike with a car in a drunk state and dragged her for several kilometers. This matter is very dangerous and I am issuing a court summons to the Delhi Police. The whole truth should be revealed,” she said in a tweet.
In an interview with ANI, she also claimed that the five men in the car were drunk.
“A very disturbing incident has occurred. A girl has been hit by a car and then dragged on the road. The car was driven by five drunk people. I have called the Delhi Police to ask how justice can be done for this girl .Secondly, I would like to ask that although the girl was dragged for kilometers, there was no checkpoint to catch anything. Nobody stopped those who were drunk. It was a very horrific and shocking incident,” she said .
