A snow leopard was spotted in the Lahaul-Spiti region of Himachal Pradesh on Monday, a rare sight in the tourist-heavy Himalayan state.
This snow leopard rests on a rock in Kaza’s Chicham village.
According to reports, Ajay Banyal, assistant public relations officer of the Himachal Pradesh government, captured the cat on camera.
Snow leopards are rare wild animals that are highly threatened due to poaching for their skin, bones and other body parts.
Himachal Pradesh, especially the state capital Shimla, has witnessed a tourism boom this Christmas weekend. The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting snow in several parts of the state by the end of the year.
