Two people, including a notorious gangster, have been shot dead in a gang war in Rajasthan state, police said today.
Dreaded gangster Raju Theth was shot and killed by four people on the doorstep of his home in broad daylight, according to reports.
Police said the accused opened fire on the victim at 9.30 am on Piprali Road in Sikar city.
Theth, who suffered three gunshot wounds, had a run-in with another gang in the state’s Shekhawati district, according to a police officer.
In multiple clips captured by CCTV cameras, the four accused can be seen shooting Theth in the street before fleeing the scene, with one firing into the air to scare off passers-by and witnesses.
Shortly after the murder, Rohit Godara, who claimed to be from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the murder on Facebook, saying Theth’s murder was revenge against Anandpal Singh and Balbir Banuda.
In July 2014, gangster Bhanuda, who was a member of the Anandpal gang, was killed in a gang war in Bikaner prison.
Supporters of Theth called for a rally in the town of Sikar and demanded the immediate arrest of the killer.
