A 45-year-old technician allegedly killed his two-year-old daughter, claiming he had no money to support his daughter, police said.
According to police, the technician attempted suicide after killing his daughter.
The body of the two-year-old was found in a lake in Kendatti village, Kolar taluk, on Saturday night. In addition, a blue car was also found by the lake, the police added. The locals were skeptical and notified the Kolar Township Police Station.
After investigation, the police arrested the defendant on the charge of murdering his daughter.
The accused has been identified as Rahul Parmar, who belongs to the state of Gujarat and settled in Bangalore with his wife Bhavya two years ago.
Rahul told police that he held and played with his daughter in the car before killing her because he had no money and could not support her.
The defendant and his daughter went missing on November 15, after which the child’s mother, Bhavya, reported her disappearance to the police station.
According to police, Parmar has been out of work for the past six months and his bitcoin business has suffered financial losses.
Parmar also lodged a complaint with the Bengaluru Police about the theft of gold jewelery from his home. He used to go to the police station for inquiries. Police, investigating the complaint, learned that Rahul himself had stolen jewels from the house and put them up as collateral. He registered a fake theft with the police.
The policeman warned him and told him to come to the police station.
It is suspected that Rahul may have done something out of fear of facing the consequences of making a false report to the police.
Police are investigating the case.
