Aftab Amin Poonawalla, accused of Delhi’s gruesome murders, googled blood cleansing methods and read human anatomy after murdering his common-law partner Shraddha, Delhi Police claimed on Monday.

A Delhi police interrogation revealed that Aftab killed Shraddha on May 18 and then began planning to dispose of the body. He told police that he had read human anatomy so he could chop up the body.

The accused, identified as Mumbai resident Aftab Amin Poonawalla, 28, was arrested on Saturday and has been remanded to police for five days following a complaint from the victim’s father, police said on Monday.

Aftab and Shraddha met on a dating website and moved into a rented place in Chhatarpur together. Delhi Police received a complaint from Shraddha’s “father” and registered an FIR on 10 November.

After a Google search, Aftab used some chemicals to remove blood from the floor and dispose of the stained clothes, police said. He transferred the body to the bathroom and bought a refrigerator from a nearby store. He then cut the body into small pieces and put them in the refrigerator.

Shraddha Walkar, 27, from Mumbai, met Aftab while working at a call center in Mumbai, officials said.

“The two met through a dating app in Mumbai. They lived together for three years and then moved to Delhi. Shortly after the two moved to Delhi, Shraddha started pressuring each other to marry her,” Deputy Commissioner South Delhi Police Service said. (DCP) Ankit Chauhan told ANI.

The source further said that Aftab used to sleep every day in the same room where he cut off Shraddha’s body after killing him. Aftab cleaned out the refrigerator after handling body parts.

In September, Shraddha’s friends told her family that Shraddha had not been contacted for the past two-and-a-half months and her mobile number had been switched off. Her family also checked her social media accounts, which had not been updated in some time.

In November, Shraddha’s father Vikash Madan Walkar, a resident of Palghar (Maharashtra), filed a missing persons complaint with the Mumbai Police.

During the preliminary investigation, Shraddha’s last residence was in Delhi, upon which the case was referred to the Delhi Police.

Shraddha’s father spoke to the police about his daughter’s relationship with Aftab and suspected that he had something to do with his daughter’s absence.

During the investigation it was found that Aaftab and Shraddha had come to Delhi and started living in a rented apartment in the Pahadi area of ​​Chhattarpur. During the investigation, the police tracked down Aftab and arrested him.

Aftab confessed to the crimes during interrogation and said they often quarreled because Shrada pressured him to marry.

“The defendant has been arrested and a case under Section 302 (murder) and 201 (causing evidence of a crime) of the IPC has been registered at the Mehrauli Police Station,” the official said.

Police also recovered some bones from Aftab’s rented apartment, and officials said efforts were underway to recover the rest of the body.
