British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on Saturday he would be cheering on England’s cricket team as they take on Pakistan in today’s T20 World Cup final.
“Wishing @englandcricket the best of luck in tomorrow’s T20 World Cup final against Pakistan. I’ll be rooting for you along with all the other cricket fans in the UK. We’re always behind you,” Mr Sunak said.
England vs Pakistan kicks off today at 1:30pm (IST) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia. Throwing is scheduled to take place half an hour before the start of the game.
England beat India by 10 wickets to advance to the final, while Pakistan beat New Zealand in the semi-finals.
Since the start of 2007, Pakistan (2009) and England (2010) have each won one T20 World Cup.
