Rajasthan teacher changes gender to marry student – Flying Journals

Both parents accepted the wedding.

Bharatpur, Rajasthan:

A teacher in Rajasthan changed gender and married one of her students on Sunday.

Bharatpur’s PE teacher Meera fell in love with Kalpana Fouzdar and married her through sex reassignment surgery.

“Everything is fair in love and that’s why I changed my gender,” Meera, now Aarav Kuntal, told reporters.

Meera met Kalpana in gym class at school. Kalpana plays kabaddi at the state level and is reportedly heading to Dubai for the International Kabaddi Championships in January.

Aarav said he fell in love with Kalpana during his interactions on the school playground, but he always wanted to be a boy. “I was born a girl, but I always thought of myself as a boy. I always wanted surgery to change my gender. I had my first surgery in December 2019,” he said.

Bride Karpana said she had been in love with Araf for a long time and would have married him even if he hadn’t undergone surgery.

“I loved him from the beginning. Even if he hadn’t had the surgery, I would have married him. I had the surgery with him,” Karpana said.

Their wedding, though unconventional and still rare in India, has been embraced by parents.
