Schools in Noida to remain closed on Monday due to heavy rain

Schools in Noida will remain closed on Monday due to heavy rain, the local authority said in a statement today. It has been raining in the National Capital Region (NCR) since Saturday afternoon, flooding roads and uprooting trees.

Traffic police also warned motorists to be careful when driving, especially under overpasses, as many roads were flooded.

Schools in other Uttar Pradesh districts – Lucknow, Kanpur, Aligarh, Meerut, Agra and Hapur – will also be closed on Monday.

Parts of UP have been raining since Friday. The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting more rain in these areas tomorrow.

“Due to the excessive rainfall in the area and considering the possibility of excessive rainfall, the Gautam Budh Nagar District Sheriff has declared a holiday on Monday, October 10th for government, semi-government funded and independent accredited schools of all boards from the school district 1 to 12,” District Inspector Dharamveer Singh said in a statement.

“All principals and principals should ensure that orders are followed,” Mr Singh said.
