Supriya Sule in Return of Cyrus Mistry

New Delhi:

Former Tata son chairman Cyrus Mistry, who was killed in a car accident on Sunday, was cremated in Mumbai today. The death of the 54-year-old heir to one of India’s most prominent business families, the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, has shocked the Indian business world.

Supriya Sule, the daughter of Maharashtra MP and Sharad Pawar, shared heartwarming photos with the business tycoon today.

“Worship you…still can’t believe it. We will miss you forever. Rest in peace Cyrus,” she wrote in the post.

Recalling her nearly three-year friendship with Mr Mistry, Ms Soule said he had kept a low profile and loved Maharashtra food.

Ms Soule, who referred to Mr Mistry as “her twin”, said her family was scheduled to meet Cyrus and his wife in London on September 12.

“Gone from our sights, but never from our hearts,” a distraught Ms Sule posted the day before.

Talking about his eating habits, Ms Sule said maybe he has “the soul of Maharashtra” because he loves thecha, a vegetarian Maharashtra food. Shrimp curry is another favorite, she said.

Those present at the funeral today included Cyrus Mistry’s brother Shapoor Mistry, father-in-law and senior lawyer Iqbal Chagla, industrialists Anil Ambani, Ajit Gulabchand, Deepak Parekh and Vishal Kampani, entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala, architect Hafeez Contractor, Supriya Sule, former MP Milind Deora et al.

Cyrus Mistry was appointed Chairman of Tata Sons in 2012. His shock ouster in 2016 sparked a years-long open court and boardroom battle between the Mistrys and Tatas, two of India’s most prominent business families.

Mr Mistry left behind his wife Rohiqa and their two sons.
