Eye-popping drone footage of Noida’s Petronas Twin Towers demolished – Flying Journals

Thousands of residents of nearby apartments were evacuated before the demolition.

Noida:

Noida’s super tech twin towers were demolished in a massive explosion today. More than 3,700 kilograms of explosives were used to destroy both towers, causing a cloud of smoke and debris to engulf the area.

The nearly 100-meter-tall tower – taller than Delhi’s Qutub Minar – is the tallest building ever demolished in India. The drone footage showed the Twin Towers reduced to ashes in nine seconds.

Thousands of residents of nearby apartments and societies were evacuated before the demolition.

Officials involved in the operation had earlier said about 55,000 tons of debris would be produced. Cleaning up debris can take up to three months. Garbage will be dumped in designated areas.

More than 3,700 kilograms of explosives were used to destroy both towers.

On August 31, 2021, the Supreme People’s Court ordered the demolition on the grounds of “colluding with district officials and punishing illegal construction according to law” for violating building codes.

An hour before the blast, estate agent Supertech had said the structures were built according to the building plans approved by the Noida Development Authority without any deviations.

“Noida’s twin towers, Apex and Ceyane, are part of the Emerald Court project in District 93A and are being built on land allocated by the Noida authorities. The construction plan for the project, including the two towers, was granted by the Noida authorities in 2009. Approved, strictly in accordance with the then prevailing building goodbye laws announced by the state government,” Supertech Ltd said in a statement.
